Hendricks finally gets a shot at GSP

After wining his 12th straight fight against Johny Hendricks, George St-Pierre (GSP) continues to be the UFC Welterweight champion. This was Hendricks first five round battle, and there where many questions on whether Hendricks had enough cardio to last the full 25-minute fight. Although Hendricks seemed to slow down after the third round he demonstrated that he is capable of sustaining a five round battle. Hendricks definitely brought his “A game,” making this one of GSP’s toughest fight.

Let’s break down the dispute about the fight that has fans asking for an immediate rematch, Despite the fact that GSP had claim to be stepping away from MMA for the time being, “I need to step away for a bit that’s all I have to say,” he told Joe Rogan after been named the winner.

In the first round GSP starts off aggressive landing a jab right away and using his background in wrestling drooping Hendricks to the mat with a takedown. GSP tried to sit for a mounted guillotine, but Hendricks quickly got on his feet. There was a few times where both where clinched along the fence. Hendricks delivered a a hard hit with his knee, however GSP responded with a left jab.

In the second round Both use more leg kicks this round. However this round would have to be the most troubled for GSP. Hendricks completely owned this round clearly. Delivering shots after shots, The fight was stopped for a few seconds to allow Hendricks to put his mouth piece back on which had fallen after clinching with each other.

There wasn’t to much action during the third round do to the fact that both where missing a lot of their shots, because they where trying to countered each other.  GSP was a little more aggressive during this round.

In the fourth round, GSP seemed to have slipped and Hendricks took full advantage of that. Having the dominant position and landing punch after punch Hendricks chose to let GSP stand up so the fight will return them to their fetes. This round was not very pretty, Hendricks delivered strong hooks causing St. Pierre to bleed a significant amount of blood. Hendricks looked for another possible takedown, but did not get it. GSP had very good balance.

In the final round GSP looked bloody and Hendricks was clean. Hendricks did not seemed worried at all. GSP gets Hendricks down twice but Hendricks is quick to his feet. Both attempt for a Kimura ( a submission hold ) but neither are successful.

George St.-Pierre defeats Johny Hendricks after a split decision by the three judges. 48-47 Hendricks, 48-47 GSP, and 48-47 GSP. A surprising call, when it seemed like Hendricks dominated most rounds. Although Hendricks lost he was still humble about it, saying he would go home train and work on what he did wrong for next time.

Not everyone was happy by this decision the president of UFC  Dana White was furious that GSP was named the winer. He was not angry at GSP, but with the Nevada state Athletic Commission, saying that the governor needs to get involve before they destroy the sport like they did with boxing. He also commented on GSP leaving MMA, and responded with, “ GSP can’t retire, he needs to go home rest, get back and give Hendricks the re-match he deserves.” White couldn’t have said it better Both are great fighters and anyone one of them is worthy of that championship, but lets be honest GSP did not win Hendricks dominated every single round. The only thing left to do is hope that GSP grants Hendricks that re-match he deserves as White said.

‘The Best Man Holiday’

Image Malcolm D. Lee finally hits theaters with the return of the overlong sequel to the 1999‘s ‘The Best Man’ with ‘The Best Man Holiday’. Which reunites us with author Harper Stewart (Taye Diggs), who is expecting his first child with wife Robin (Sanaa Harlan). After having a best seller with Unfinished Business ( the incitement of tragedy to the first film), Harper’s career has collapsed. Hard times call for desperate measures which is why Harper decides to take up the invitation for a holiday visit with his estranged friend, NFL star Lance Sullivan (Morris Chestnut) a visit which holds profitable career opportunities.

Lance is retiring from the game, and Harper sees an opportunity to lift his career up again by writing a biography of the all star player. However he’ll first have to re stitch the rift between himself and Lance over the infamous affair between Lance wife Mia (Monica Calhoun). But it is not just that drama that they will need to worry about but also all the drama that comes with having old friends like Julian (Harold Perinea), Candy (Regina Hall), Shelby ( Melissa De Sousa), Jordan (Nia Long) and Quentin (Terrence Howard) as they all stay under the same roof. While there are old wounds and new pains that threaten this group of friends as a whole and each of their personal relationships, they quickly learn that there is no better place they can be this holiday then there together, as they learn to value Love, Family, and good Friendship.

If you have yet the watch ‘The Best Man’  don’t worry you will not be lost. Malcolm D. Lee does an excellent job at re capping key parts from the first movie on to this one, to help understand the whole dilemma between Lance and Harper better. While for the most part there where scenes that had you laughing don’t let it fool you, this film definitely had heart breaking scenes that would make anyone cry. Reunite with the cast of ‘The Best Man’ and uncover the true holiday miracle this season.

Closing one Chapter

It has officially come to an end. The Jonas Brothers are no longer a group. What can i say? i am devastated, heart broken, speech less, But with all that i will always be a Jonas fan. Six years of supporting them, they where my first ever concert and the memories will live on forever. From driving all the way to Vegas twice to watch them, seeing them perform numerous of times here in LA whether it was performing at a venue, at the grove, watching their 3D movie or even seeing the softball/soccer games they would have, and my favorite memory ditching school my senior year just to meet Nick. Oh man the trouble i got into the following day, but it was all worth it. The things these boys made their fans do. Just to see them the energy they brought just light up the room, to the tears fans would be in when Nick would perform “A little bit longer,” and the advice, encouragement speech he would deliver along with it. It wasn’t only relating to their music but also some of the amazing people i got to meet a long the way, and for that i am thankful. It is sad to see them coming to an end but they are growing and as they grow your path may change along the way. “Family first,” said Nick, and as fans we need to respect that. However they are giving one last gift to their fans anyone that is a ‘Fan Club Member’ will receive four of the songs that where suppose to be released on the new album. So they will leave us something to remember them by. Keep the memories and cherish them forever, they where part of us growing up, “As you move on in life you have to take the experience with you as a memory and not your reality”-Nick Jonas. They may be over as a band but i know great things are awaiting for each one of them, and i cannot wait to see what they do for the rest of their lives. FOREVER A JONAS FAN. Whether its together or individual.

Affleck to play new Batman in “Man of Steel” sequel

Warner Bros. has  announced that Ben  Affleck will be the new Batman in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” sequel written by David S. Goyer. WHY???? No offense to Affleck who with out a doubt is an amazing actor and talented in many ways, but really replacing Christian Bale. I am just not sure of how i feel about that.

Although, Affleck has had some experience playing a hero as he played a blind Marvel crime fighter in 2003’s “Daredevil” and portrayed 1950s Superman actor George Reeves in 2006’s “Hollywoodland.”  We will see how this plays out i guess. Director Snyder  said in a statement that Affleck will provide a “balance” to Cavill’s Clark Kent. Who also mentioned the following statement:

“(Affleck) has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne,” said Snyder. “I can’t wait to work with him.”

Affleck is to star opposite of  30-year-old Henry Cavill, who will reprise his role as Superman from “Man of Steel.” The movie will also feature “Man of Steel” stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

I am a huge Batman fan and i hope this movie does not disappoint. I believe the public fell in love with Bale as Batman and it is sad to not watch him take on another Batman role however, i do wish Affleck luck and hope that he does an incredible job with this role as he normally does.

How do you guys feel about this?

Three years later, and they still make it feel like the ‘First Time’

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged. Well here i am again trying to keep up with this. So after going to the Jonas Brothers concert in the last week yes i am still into them.

I know i am 21 years old but who cares i grew up listening to them therefore i shall keep supporting them. Any who back to my story, the concert was unbelievable they honestly never seem to disappoint when it comes to putting on a show. They opened up the show with their new hit single “First Time,” and closed the show with one of their old songs “S.O.S” The energy did not drop as Karmin, and DJ Mike Tompkins did an amazing job at getting everyone pumped up before the Jonas bros. took on the stage. I had the time of my life singing at the top of my lungs and frankly it wasn’t because of the alcohol in my system, it felt like i was 15 all over again. You know it’s true the brothers are growing up and it’s nice to see the fans grow with them, although their new sound is more mature, they are still singing about broken hearts, songs to get one dancing, and experience they go through as they are getting older. I can honestly say i am beyond excited for this new album to come out, and are glad to say the boys are back!

Not getting enough of them from the concert i decided to attend their Charity Soccer game this evening. Being a broke college student i decided to make my own press passes to get into the soccer game to cover it. Now i did contact one of the media coordinators their, and i also write for my college newspaper which you guys should check out, Elpaisanoonline.com I got to go on the field for a little while until we got kicked off for not being “Official Press,” to be honest that kind of disappointed me, because i know i am not a prof

essional, but i am trying and just like anyone of them you had to have your start somewhere. The char

ity game benefited the Jonas Brother’s Change For The Children foundation. The game was played against AC United which

consisted of Nick Jonas and other members and Bilbo which consisted of Joe Jonas, Kevin Jonas, Wilmer Valderrama and others. AC United took home the win with a final score of 3-2. Personally i am not a big fan of soccer, but it’s nice to see celebrities come together to benefit a great cause. Congratulations to the Boys! And note to self if you ever want to cover an event as press just act like you are meant to be there covering the event and you will fit right in. I do want to say God bless one of the photographers their who was nice enough to help us get in and i quote said “It doesn’t matter if you are in college or not, they shouldn’t give you a hassle to cover an ev

ent.” Hence he helped us get in (: Overall it was a great week.

Here are some pics enjoy!

He’s Back

After being away from the music industry for six years Justin Timberlake has finally made a return. Timberlake has finally released his third album The 20/20 Experience, and what better way to release an album than with an eight minute music video that celebrates the decade-spaning love story between his grand parents William and Sadie Bomar.

Timberlake’s touching video “Mirrors”  was directed by Floria Sigismondi. The video begins with an elder women with grey hair boxing a man’s belongings with him standing behind her, as in a ghost form, to implicate that he had passed. The real life William who inspired this song/video passed away December 29 of last year after a long battle with heart trouble and dementia.

The video does an amazing job at demonstrating the love his parents had shared for 63 years. And remembering all the thing’s they did. Timberlake could not have picked a better video for the release of his new album. Make sure to check out the rest of his album, Timberlake is back and is doing an incredible job just like always.
